Search Tips

When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.

If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.

Use wildcards in the search string:

•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba

•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call

•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

Grammar: verb
verb forms: targets, targeted, targeting
Definition: to select or identify (e.g a particular component of a cell)
Example:
1. Cells can determine their 3-D structure and position in an embryo by protein targeting within cells and soluble chemical cues.

2. Simple modifications of the sub-cellular targeting of actin microfilaments in embryonic cells allow cells to invaginate to form a gut, ectoderm, and endoderm.
