Search Tips

When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.

If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.

Use wildcards in the search string:

•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba

•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call

•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

Definition:
~ either extremity of the main axis of a nucleus, cell, or organism

Example:
1. Condensed chromosomes are pulled apart using a system of microtubules which drag the separated chromatids to opposite poles of the cell.

2. After chromatids have migrated to opposite poles of the parental cell, the cell divides along its "equator" yielding two new daughter cells.
