Search Tips
When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.
If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.
Use wildcards in the search string:
•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba
•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call
•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

- Grammar: verb
verb forms: mimics, mimicked, mimicking - Definition: to closely resemble or take on the appearance of something
- Example:
1. Stem cell technology attempts to mimic the signals that turn on different cellular programs.
2. Hormone disruptors like DDT mimic natural estrogenic hormones and so can block or activate normal hormone responses during development.
