Search Tips
When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.
If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.
Use wildcards in the search string:
•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba
•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call
•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

plural: lymphocytes - Definition: one of the types of white blood cells that participate in the immune response. See also B-cells and T-cells.
- Example:
1. During an infection, antigens stimulate B lymphocytes to temporarily activate the genes that encode defensive antibody proteins.
2. The two primary types of lymphocytes originate from stem cells in bone marrow and travel to lymphoid tissues.
