Search Tips

When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.

If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.

Use wildcards in the search string:

•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba

•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call

•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

Grammar: noun
Definition: a polysaccharide which stores carbohydrates in animals, and occurs primarily in the liver and muscle tissue. Glycogen is also found in bacteria, fungi and yeasts.
Example:
1. cAMP activates kinase proteins that add a phosphate group to an enzyme that breaks down glycogen into glucose for energy.

2. Adrenaline has target cells throughout the body, including liver cells that store glycogen.
