When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.

If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.

Use wildcards in the search string:

•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba

•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call

•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

Definition: a network of fibres throughout the cytoplasm of the cell that helps to maintain the cell's shape. This internal framework is composed largely of actin filaments and microtubules.
Example:
There are two sets of genes for the contractile proteins actin and myosin. One set operates in the cytoskeleton, where they are responsible for the internal movement of organelles and for the structural integrity of the cell.
