Search Tips

When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.

If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.

Use wildcards in the search string:

•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba

•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call

•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

plural: cyclins
Definition: a group of proteins that help to regulate the cell cycle. Cyclins are usually synthesized and degraded during the cell cycle to regulate the activity of a cyclin-dependent kinase (CdK).
Example:
1. The ability of cells to divide is controlled by a complex of cyclin and CdK.

2. The mitotic activity of a cell is regulated by cyclin and Cdk in response to outside stimuli.
