  • Definition: a rod-shaped structure made of DNA and proteins, that becomes visible in the cell nucleus when cells begin to divide. Chromosomes are made of chromatin and contain genes.
  • Example:
    1.Chromosomes are usually diffuse in the nucleus because the DNA is being utilised for cellular maintenance.

    2.The first step of cell division involves the condensation of the DNA into visible chromosomes and the dissolution of the nuclear membrane.
