  • Definition: a detailed plan or map. The DNA of an organism will determine many of the characteristics of that organism and is therefore often referred to as a genetic blueprint.
  • Example:
    1. One reason why DNA is the blueprint of life is that it contains a code for the construction of proteins.

    2. Each daughter cell must have a full copy of the genetic blueprint.
