Search Tips

When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.

If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.

Use wildcards in the search string:

•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba

•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call

•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

Definition: a process in which green plants utilise the energy of sunlight to manufacture carbohydrates from carbon dioxide and water in the presence of chlorophyll
Example:
1. Photosynthesis converts carbon dioxide from the atmosphere into simple monosaccharides like glucose, often releasing oxygen as a byproduct.
