Search Tips
When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.
If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.
Use wildcards in the search string:
•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba
•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call
•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

- Grammar: noun
- Definition: a position on the DNA or RNA strand, closer to the 5' end than the 3' end
- Example:
1. The production of mRNA (called transcription) is initiated from a specific sequence of nucleotides in the DNA lying upstream of the gene.
2. Promoters lie upstream of protein coding regions.
