Search Tips

When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.

If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.

Use wildcards in the search string:

•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba

•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call

•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

Definition: an enzyme that catalyses the formation of new DNA and RNA from an existing strand of DNA or RNA
Example:
1. RNA polymerase reads the nucleotide sequence in DNA and makes an mRNA copy.

2. DNA polymerase binds to the nucleotide primer built by primase, and then pairs free nucleotide bases on the single stranded DNA template with complementary nucleotides floating in the nucleus.
