When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.

If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.

Use wildcards in the search string:

•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba

•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call

•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

Definition: a fibrous, structural protein found in hair, nails, hooves, wool, feathers, and skin
Example:
1. The helix structure of keratin generates long threads that form the structural matrix of mammalian hair, bird feather and turtle shells.

2. The epidermis is composed of a lower layer of rapidly dividing cells and an outer protective layer of cells that are packed full of the matrix protein keratin.
