Search Tips

When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.

If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.

Use wildcards in the search string:

•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba

•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call

•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

Definition: having resistance to infection by a particular pathogen. An immune response involves the production of antibodies or T-cells to deal with foreign antigens.
Example:
1. The infectious disease QX only occurs when the immune system of oysters is compromised.

2. The need to initiate temporary differentiation of B-cells to produce antibodies means that immune responses have a long induction period.
