When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.

If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.

Use wildcards in the search string:

•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba

•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call

•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

Definition: a group of organic compounds such as cellulose, glycogen, starch and sugars, that are composed of carbon, oxygen and hydrogen, usually in the ratio 1:2:1
Example:
1. Along with proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and nucleic acids are the major components of cells.

2. Collectins are defensive proteins that bind onto the carbohydrates of foreign pathogens and stimulate their destruction.
