Search Tips

When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.

If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.

Use wildcards in the search string:

•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba

•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call

•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

Definition: an early developmental stage of an embryo, consisting of a hollow sphere formed by a single layer of cells around a fluid-filled cavity
Example:
1. When cellular migration begins, some cells detach from the blastula and migrate into the hollow cavity inside.

2. The nervous system initially forms as a groove of cells in the surface of the blastula directly above the gut.
