When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.
If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.
Use wildcards in the search string:
•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba
•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call
•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

1. There are three major known groups of Archaebacteria: the methanogens, halophiles, and thermophiles.
2. Many books and articles still refer to them as "Archaebacteria", that term has been largely abandoned because they are quite different to bacteria.
