Search Tips

When you select a discipline, your search is limited to that particular termbank.

If a discipline is not selected, the whole TermFinder database is searched for your query.

Use wildcards in the search string:

•the asterisk (*) wildcard searches for a sequence of 0 or more characters in a string; Ex: am*ba finds ameba or amoeba

•the underscore (_) wildcard searches for exactly 1 character in a string; Ex: c_ll finds cell or call

•wildcards can be used for browsing; Ex: c* finds all the words starting with c

Grammar: noun phrase
Definition: one of a group of proteins involved in the regulation of the cell cycle. Cyclin-dependent kinases add a phosphate group to key proteins that are required for cell division (i.e. Cdk phosphorylates key proteins).
Example:
1. The ability of cells to divide is controlled by a complex of cyclin and Cdk.

2. Cell division is stimulated by the two proteins cyclin and Cdk, which control progression through the cell cycle and are activated or suppressed by external growth factors and differentiation regulators.
